Biography
Diana Niepce | 1985
Diana Niepce é bailarina, coreógrafa e escritora. Aos 28 anos um acidente alterou o rumo da sua vida e da sua carreira artística. Essa experiência levou-a a abraçar uma nova relação com o corpo, a dança e a performance. Desde então, tem desenvolvido uma série de projetos e criações artísticas nas quais explora a linguagem e o hibridismo como formas de ação política, desafiando e redefinindo a identidade do corpo performativo para além das normas convencionais.
É licenciada pela Escola Superior de Dança, realizou um programa Erasmus na Teatterikorkeakoulun (Helsínquia) e concluiu um Mestrado em Arte e Comunicação na Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
É artista associada do Espaço do Tempo e criadora das peças Forgotten Fog (2015), Raw a Nude (2019), 12 979 Dias(2019), Duet (2020), T4 (2020), Anda, Diana (Prémio SPA, 2021), The Other Side of Dance (2022), Enfreakment (2024), Utopia (2024) e Norm (2024). Atualmente, encontra-se em processo de criação da sua próxima obra de grande escala, intitulada Hornfuckers.
Como bailarina e performer, colaborou com artistas nacionais e internacionais. É curadora e formadora de Introdução às Artes Performativas para Artistas com Deficiência (2020), Fora da Norma (2023, Biblioteca de Marvila e Cineteatro Louletano) e Norma (2023, TNMDII). Curou também o ciclo de conferências e performances Political Bodies (2024, Culturgest) e é atualmente colaboradora especialista do projeto internacional Europe Beyond Access (nomeada pela Culturgest).
As suas publicações mais recentes incluem o artigo Experimentar com o Corpo na revista Coreia, o livro Anda, Diana(ed. Sistema Solar) e o conto Broken and Stinky, They Are the Pebbles for the Rota Memorial do Convento. Tem ainda desenvolvido uma vasta investigação sobre a historiografia dos corpos não normativos na história da dança portuguesa e internacional, tendo colaborado na exposição Dança não dança, apresentada na Gulbenkian, e no respetivo catálogo.
Diana Niepce is a dancer, choreographer, and writer. A transformative accident at the age of 28 altered the course of her life and artistic career. This experience prompted her to embrace a renewed relationship with her body, dance, and performance. Since then, she has developed a series of projects and artistic creations in which she explores language and hybridism as forms of political action, challenging and redefining the identity of the performative body beyond conventional norms.
She graduated from the Escola Superior de Dança, completed an Erasmus program at Teatterikorkeakoulun (Helsinki), and earned a Master’s in Art and Communication at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
She is an associate artist at Espaço do Tempo and the creator of the pieces Forgotten Fog(2015), Raw a Nude (2019), 12 979 Dias (2019), Duet (2020), T4 (2020), Anda, Diana (SPA Prize, 2021), The other side of dance (2022), Enfreakment(2024), Utopia (2024), and Norm (2024). Diana is currently in the process of creating her next large-scale creation, called Hornfuckers.
As a dancer and performer, she has collaborated with both national and international artists. She is the curator and trainer of Introduction to the Performing Arts for Artists with Disabilities (2020), Fora da Norma (2023, Marvila Library and Cineteatro Louletano), and Norma (2023, TNMDII). She also curated the Political Bodies series of conferences and performances (2024, Culturgest) and is currently expert collaborator of the international project Europe Beyond Access(nominated by Culturgest).
Her most recent publications include the article Experimenting with the Body in the journal Coreia, the book Anda, Diana(ed. Sistema Solar), and the short story Broken and Stinky, They Are the Pebbles for the Rota Memorial do Convento. She as also been conducting extensive research into the historiography of non-normative bodies in the history of Portuguese and international dance, having collaborated on both the exhibition ‘Dança não dança’ (Dance Not Dance) shown at the Gulbenkian and the accompanying catalogue.
